Nature of
Service
SMART4D’s process is an automated 3D geological model while
drilling. It is real-time tracking, updating and
visualization of actual data that incorporates MWD and LWD
information to optimize the drilling corridor of a
horizontal well through a 3D geological target. The
process is vendor neutral (driller/surveyor/logger) through
adherence to WITSML protocol delivered from Pason.
Structure mapping
accompanied by Gamma Ray and Resistivity modelling, analysis and feedback in
minutes improves well placement while drilling (WD). The system keeps up
very well for heavy oil well drills with ROP’s of over 300 m/hr.
Benefits
This accurate system is an excellent tool for communication
with all stakeholders during drilling operations, staying
within the sweet spot of the reservoir, avoiding collision,
viewing the drilling corridor ahead of the bit and avoiding
sidetracks. The system can be used to remotely direct
directional drilling.
